History of the sport

The racing of lawnmowers began in 1973 by a bunch of moaning motorsport enthusiasts over the increasing costs of motorsport in the Cricketers Arms in Wisbrough Green, West Sussex.

It was more or less an overnight success story now with 6 different lawnmower racing clubs in the UK.

We the Northern Ireland Lawn Mower Racing Association were founded in 2015.

We are a non profit making organisation and any monies made from events are given to Northern Ireland Charites or good causes at local events.

There are no cash prizes and sponsorship is discouraged.

We welcome anyone looking to help out at our race meetings from Marshalling to assisting car parks duties to track organisation prior to racing.

The basic rules are that all mowers must be self propelled by an engine.

They must have been orginally designed and manufactured to mow domestic lawns
